Just finished writing the first episode of this web series.
As much fun it is to write and plan, realising that I actually now need to cast it and then find crewmembers and producers etc is going to be a nightmare.
Fun fact: in the first episode, one character spends a while releasing his pent up anger over the fact that Michael Shannon didn’t get an Oscar nomination for Take Shelter this year.

LISTEN: Bahamas “Caught Me Thinking”
With flashes of ’50s guitar charm, modernist vocals and a steady sub-tropical beat, this track stays true to the name: Bahamas.
[“Caught Me Thinking” was added to rotation this week on CBC Radio 3 and that pic of McConaughey is from Back Seat Cuddler]
Reminds me of Zeus, so it was no surprise to find out that he’s worked with them.
About to double feature My Dinner with Andre and Waking Life. Settling in for over three hours of talking.
Chairlift - I Belong in Your Arms
When I close my eyes when I’m listening to this record, I’m transported back to my dad’s car parked in the driveway, enclosed in my little 8-year-old bubble listening to Top 40 radio, jamming out, pretending to cruise around driving his station wagon to the beach. I’m completely infatuated with it. Their new Something LP is definitely one of my favorite releases this year.
Aside: what’s with delivering the MP3s two weeks before the vinyl? You’d figure they’d do it the other way around…
This is my favourite song from the album. It’s awesome.
After reading Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy (which, unfortunately, I ended up being quite indifferent to), I now start the trecherous 5-10 minute process of working out which book amongst the bags on my floor and piles on my shelves and desk I will read next.

2. What was the first movie you ever remember watching on theaters?
Pochahontas. That would have made me 3 years old.
10. A movie that not many have heard that you’ve seen
Breaking Upwards. It’s an independent film set in New York about a long-term relationship breaking up. I saw the trailer for it ages ago and thought it was fantastic so I ordered the dvd first chance I got.
4. Top 5 directors
Argh, this is painful. OK. Fincher, Aronofsky, Kubrick, Linklater, Tarantino/Wes Anderson/Edgar Wright.
That was 7. My bad.
18. Favorite Movie Soundtrack
Ooh. The Jackie Brown soundtrack is pretty amazing. Rushmore as well.
In terms of film score, The Social Network, Atonement, A Single Man and The Brothers Bloom.
19. Favorite quote from a movie
Pretty much the entirety of Noah Baumbach’s Kicking and Screaming.
Jane: Sometimes you can be such a child
Grover: Yeah but if I was a child you’d find that endearing
26. Favorite Love Story
Before Sunrise/Sunset or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
First one that comes to mind is The Diving Bell and the Butterfly but the most I have ever cried in a film is Dear Zachary.
Dear Zachary is an amazing documentary but it is so soul crushing. Also, if you plan on watching that don’t google it or read a synopsis. If you go in blind it is much more effective.

“The baby of the group, Conor Bateman is still chewing his way through a film major. He’s arguably got a more alternative taste than the rest of us.”
I’ve just finished watching Jean-Xavier De Lestrade’s 8-part documentary series The Staircase, on the murder trial of Michael Peterson and thought it was a fantastically gripping story.
If you’re a fan of docos, I highly recommend it.
I was going to comment about it in the IMDb message boards until I realised everyone on it is insane.
Here are some spolier-laden thoughts:
I’m glad I’m not the only one noticing

YEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWW!

William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman may have just stolen the best presenter moment from Jimmy Fallon.
Dustin Hoffman looked like he was falling asleep.
