“Future Crimes” | Wild Flag
I shall be seeing them at Manning on Tuesday night (hopefully).
LISTEN: Bahamas “Caught Me Thinking”
With flashes of ’50s guitar charm, modernist vocals and a steady sub-tropical beat, this track stays true to the name: Bahamas.
[“Caught Me Thinking” was added to rotation this week on CBC Radio 3 and that pic of McConaughey is from Back Seat Cuddler]
Reminds me of Zeus, so it was no surprise to find out that he’s worked with them.
Chairlift - I Belong in Your Arms
When I close my eyes when I’m listening to this record, I’m transported back to my dad’s car parked in the driveway, enclosed in my little 8-year-old bubble listening to Top 40 radio, jamming out, pretending to cruise around driving his station wagon to the beach. I’m completely infatuated with it. Their new Something LP is definitely one of my favorite releases this year.
Aside: what’s with delivering the MP3s two weeks before the vinyl? You’d figure they’d do it the other way around…
This is my favourite song from the album. It’s awesome.

This #1 song on Radio 3 this week is Dan Mangan’s “Post-war Blues”.
Check out the whole Top 30, featuring fun stuff with Rich Aucoin and Dan himself.
I love this song.
Shut Up, Man - Das Racist
I am enjoying their new album Relax so much (iTunes).
It’s a fantastic album.
Decided to go through and edit all of this tonight, out of sheer boredom.
Some of those decisions were painfully hard to make. As will be working out my top 5 for 2010, but I think I might just have cracked it.
Say Us - Zeus
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before and since it’s finally made its way out of my Latest 200 songs playlist, I feel I must reflect on what could very well be my favourite album of 2010.
This is indie-power-pop-folk-awesomeness. This is an album that I can just listen to whenever. It’s not a long album, most songs are very easy to sing along with (see the rousing chorus of The River By The Garden) and it is essentially a brilliant debut. The songs carry so much confidence, so much flair and style that I can;t help but be won over.
Plus, Marching Through Your Head has nearly become the most played song on my iTunes, so there’s that.
The Dead Flag Blues - Godspeed You Black Emperor!
F♯A♯∞ is very close to, if not completely, musical perfection.
